Troubleshooting

Having trouble accessing the LMS or it doesn’t appear to be running that well?

Minimum Browser Requirements

To diagnose any problems meeting the minimum requirements use our system check.

You will need to be running the minimum browsers below to be able to access the LMS:

  • Internet Explorer 11 or above (with Compatibility View Mode disabled)
  • Firefox 10 or above
  • Safari 5.1 or above
  • Chrome 16 or above

However for the optimal experience in your LMS we recommend that you install the latest version of your browser. Please click here to upgrade or install the latest version of your browser.


Pop-up Blocker

Our LMS sometimes requires that certain pages are open in a separate window to display content. If your pop up blocker is enabled, please ensure that *.learnconnect.com.au and *.blob.core.windows.net are in your allowed or exceptions list. To do this –

Internet Explorer

  • From the Tools menu, click Pop-up Blocker
  • Click Pop-up Blocker Settings
  • In the Address of web site to allow field, add the following sites *.learnconnect.com.au and *.blob.core.windows.net
  • Click Close when you finish adding these sites

Firefox

  • From Tools menu, click Options
  • Click the Content icon located at the top of the window
  • Click the Exceptions button located to the right of Block pop-up windows
  • You will see the Allowed Sites dialog box
  • In the Address of web site field, add the following sites *.learnconnect.com.au and *.blob.core.windows.net
  • Click Close when you finish adding these sites

Chrome

  • From the Chrome menu, click Settings
  • Click Show advanced settings
  • In the privacy section, click the Content settings button
  • In the pop-ups section, click Manage exceptions
  • Add and allow the following sites *.learnconnect.com.au and *.blob.core.windows.net
  • Click Done when you finish adding these sites

Compatibility View

If using IE11, please ensure that compatibility view is not enabled. Please follow these steps –

  • Click on Tools
  • Select the Compatibility View Settings option
  • Disable the checkbox for Display all websites using Compatibility View and Display intranet sites in Compatibility View

Software Plugins

It is recommended that you install the following plug-ins to access specific content in the LMS

  • Flash Player 11 or above (click here to install)
  • Java 1.5 or later (click here to install)

To read documents, such as Company Policies, or display certificates, your PC will require software to open PDF files. Click here to download the latest version of Adobe Reader.

How do I clear my browser cache?

At times, we recommend that you clear your browser cache if you are experiencing issues with LearnConnect. Below are instructions based on some common internet browsers used:

Internet Explorer 8 with Compatibility Mode Disabled or above

  • Select Tools - Internet Options
  • Under 'Browsing History', select the 'Delete...' button
  • Ensure that 'Temporary Internet files' is selected
  • Press the 'Delete' button at the bottom of the screen.

Chrome

  • Press F12
  • Right click on the 'Reload this page' icon (next to the Home and Forward button)
  • Select 'Empty Cache and Hard Reload'

Firefox

  • Click on the 'Firefox' menu
  • Select History - Clear Recent History
  • Ensure that 'Everything' is selected in 'Time range to clear'
  • Expand Details, and ensure that 'Cache' is selected
  • Select the 'Clear Now' button

Getting started

What happens when I forget my password?

Forgot your details? That's easily fixed. Simply select the link under the password field "Forgot your password?" and follow the prompts to re-set your password.

You'll be asked to submit your username or email address. This will generate an email in your inbox which will help you to re-set your password.

If you don't have an email address, or you didn't receive an email, then we suggest contacting your manager or administrator for further assistance.

How can I search for what I need right away instead of navigating around the LMS?

There is a powerful search field that allows you to search for what you need in the LMS. The results will be curate to the different users automatically. This is located in the top right hand corner of the dashboard. Give it a try.

Can I view all my upcoming and past events?

Yes. This is simple. By rolling over your name in the menu bar in the top right of the LMS, you will be able to reveal a drop down menu that includes a "Calendar" link. This page will show you all your upcoming events and all the events you have been invited to. If you click the button "Past events", the list will update with a list of all the past events you have attended.

If you'd like to go back to viewing your upcoming events, then click the button "upcoming event" and the list will update back to upcoming events.

What are all the little icons?

The question mark icons you see throughout the system are tooltips. When you roll over tooltips, a popup will appear giving some very quick contextual help information. Tool tips appear next to page titles, side bar titles and input fields.

Some of the details in my profile need to change, can I update it?

Yes. By rolling over your name in the menu bar in the top right of the LMS, you will be able to reveal a drop down menu that includes an "Account" link.

I keep going to the same places in the LMS, is there a way I can re access them quickly?

Yes. On the right side of your page there is a side bar called "Recently Viewed".

When you are repeating certain actions, they will be found here. You will find the last 5 actions performed within the system.

I have completed my training. Where do I view and download my certificate?

The best way to view and download all your certificates is by viewing them in your profile. This can be accessed by selecting your name in the top right of the LMS. This will drop down a series of options. One of those will be "Profile". Select "Profile" and you will be taken to your profile which also presents a list of all your achieved certificates.

Alternatively, if your certificate is also a badge, it will appear in your side bar. If you click that badge, it will download your certificate.

Using your dashboard

What is the coloured bar on my dashboard?

The bar is a progress and status indicator for all your assigned learning. The native view shows only not attempted or incomplete tasks; this provides a simple and clean list of learning you're expected to complete.

The bar is also a filter. By clicking on each section of the bar you can filter the list to show Completed, incomplete, Not Started or Overdue learning.

Additionally, you can select each column to sort your learning in ascending or descending order for each column.

Is there a faster way I can sort through my learning?

Yes. By selecting each section of the status bar you can filter the list to show Completed, Incomplete, Not started or overdue learning.

This will allow you to find the learning you need.

I want to know more about the learning before I start it, Can I do this?

Yes. There are multiple ways you can access more information about your training.

You can roll over the title in the list. A pop up will display a summary.

To obtain the full training outline, select the Training title.

I want to know a high level summary about all my completed learning, is this possible?

Yes. There are a couple of ways you can do this.

Firstly, there is the progress status bar on your dashboard. This will give you a visual status breakdown of all the learning you've been assigned.

Secondly, at the top of the right hand sidebar, there is a "Your statistics" heading. Under that, you will have 3 different metrics that are updated automatically, enrolments completed, average pass mark and average time in courses.

Where can I find a full list of my certificates and badges?

Easy. Go to your profile page by hovering over your name in the menu bar in the top right of the LMS, and you will be able to reveal a drop down menu that includes a link "Profile. Select the link to your profile and you will see a list of all your certificates.

Using the Library

I would like to search for specific learning, where can I do this?

If you look in the top right of the LMS, you will see a search field that allows you to search within the LMS. Any keywords you search for will find learning items that have that word associated.

I'm logged in, but how do I launch my learning?

The easiest way to launch learning is from your dashboard. Below your status bar on the dashboard, you will notice a list of learning that is currently outstanding for you. That list will have buttons located on the right side of each line. These will be "Launch", and can also be "view”. Select these to launch the learning you have been assigned.

Can I view a full list of learning items and their associated tags?

Yes. By selecting the library link in your top menu you will be taken to the library page which contains a short list of popular and alphabetical tags that are within the LMS.

Select the "view all" link and it will take you to the full list of tags. Selecting a tag will take you to a list of learning items that have that tag associated with it.

I would like to view the most recently added and most popular library items?

By clicking the library link in your top menu you will be taken to the library page which will present you with a short list of both the most recently added and most popular library items. If you would like to view a full list, simply click on the "view more" link.

There is an event that I would like to attend, how do I register?

There are a couple of ways you can register for an event. If you have already been invited to attend then you can select your session by going to the event page, or your calendar to select your desired session.

Your calendar will show you the events you have been invited to, and any action you are required to take.

The library will display a list of events and sessions that are available for you to register your interest. Select the most suitable option for you. If a session is full, don't worry; you may put yourself on the waiting list. You will be notified of session openings if they become available.

I need to provide a training/learning transcript to my manager, is there somewhere I can access this?

Yes. You can do this by going to the "Reports" link in the main top menu. Once there you will see a link to your training transcript. The transcript page will allow you to search by learning status, date (enrolled, started, completed), type and key words. Once you have achieved the report you desire.
